Mr. Lathan is currently the Principal at Anthony Aguirre Junior High. In the time that I have known and worked closely with him, I have found Eric to be not only an excellent educator, but also a person who possesses outstanding leadership qualities. He is a very positive and enthusiastic individual who takes pride in his work. Eric is also full of initiative, very detailed oriented, and has a good rapport with his students. He is well thought of by his students, staff and the administrators that we works closely with. Because of his leadership and guidance, Aguirre Junior High was recently named an AVID Demonstration School. AVID is a program designed to enhance college and career readiness skills among students involved in pre-advanced placement programs, enrichment opportunities, and individual support and tutorials. Aguirre is one of six schools in the Houston area and 44 in Texas to be designated as the top 200 programs nationwide. Because of this program and the efforts of his staff and the students, a culture of success has been created throughout the campus.”
